MinEral Categories
The three mineral categories are, metallic minerals, fossil fuels, and
industrial minerals.
Metallic Minerals
Metallic minerals are minerals that when refined contain metal. Some metals are known for their appearance like gold or silver and others are valued for their strength like steel.
Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are minerals that are burned to create energy. Fossil fuels provide most of earths energy. Some examples are, coal or oil.
Industrial Minerals
Industrial Minerals are any mineral that is neither Fossil Fuels or Metallic Minerals. They're characteristics vary so widely that it is hard to describe them. Some are useless to humans but others are used for very important things. For example gravel and sand are used a lot in construction.
